Why It Matters
Ohio State is preparing to continue its season without quarterback Julian Sayin, who Ryan Day said is out indefinitely with a shoulder injury.
What Happened
Sayin injured his throwing shoulder during Ohio State’s 19-15 victory over Indiana on Oct. 17. Mario Landino hit Sayin’s throwing shoulder while sacking him, and Sayin later returned to the sideline wearing a sling.
Day said Ohio State is preparing for Sayin to miss both the regular season and postseason. “First off, we’re not going to put any timeline on his recovery, but he is out indefinitely,” Day said.
Luke Fahey will remain Ohio State’s starting quarterback. Fahey is a three-star recruit from California, while Sayin had been expected to rank among the top prospects for the NFL Draft.
Ohio State has a bye this weekend before traveling to USC for a Halloween matchup. USC is ranked No. 16, while Ohio State is ranked No. 3 in college football.
