Why It Matters
North Dakota regulators finalized premium adjustments for Affordable Care Act plans, setting costs for consumers and small businesses heading into the next calendar year.
What Happened
Insurance Commissioner Jon Godfread released approved rate changes for 2027 on Monday. The filing covers ACA individual and small group markets served by UnitedHealthcare, Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota, and Sanford Health Plan.
Godfread reviewed insurer submissions regarding financial condition, claims costs, administrative expenses, and profit margins. He reduced some of the requested increases before finalizing the rates.
“Protecting consumers means scrutinizing what insurers charge and making sure they pay claims when people need care,” Godfread said.
